Patrons rave about the excellent coffee, which seems to be a ritual for many who stop in. The desserts also draw high praise; their chocolate fudge cake and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake appear frequently in conversations, highlighting their appeal. The flexible menu caters to various dietary preferences, making it a hit for groups with differing tastes, including vegans and meat-lovers alike. Quick service during busy times earns it extra points from customers, especially during lunch hours when efficiency is key. The family-friendly atmosphere allows parents to feel welcomed while children enjoy their own menu.

Most Disliked

Despite its many strengths, Cafe Balfe faces challenges during peak hours, particularly lunch and Saturday afternoons. Wait times can extend, which may deter those seeking a quick meal. Some patrons do note that seating can feel cramped when the restaurant hits capacity, adding a sense of hustle that doesn't suit everyone's tastes for a leisurely meal. Occasionally, availability of certain popular items may run low during busy periods, leading to disappointment. The noise level can also rise in the busy atmosphere, so those looking for a quiet space might find it less appealing during peak times.

Popped in for coffee and cake which were lovely and reasonably priced. Place was very busy and people were queuing for a table so food obviously very popular here. Will try lunch next time we visit Greenock.

Went last night with friends for meal. Usually I extensively pure 8 plan every meal out due to being vegan but thought I'd just hope for the best, thankfully they had a couple of options! For the starter I had bruschetta, followed by a superfood salad minus the dressing with fries on the side. It was really tasty, price was reasonable, splitting the bill between 7 it was £17 with a drink as well. Service was pretty fast and it's lovely inside. Would definitely go back.

Lovely lunch, chicken burger with added Brie and caramelised onions. Staff all friendly and happy to take us without a booking even if it meant a bit of juggling tables.

Lovely food. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Enjoyed lunch with my mum and thanks for boxing up what I couldn't finish. Equally delicious after I zapped it in the microwave later
